Project Description
Cooking can be an enjoyable activity when one knows exactly what to cook,
there is enough time, all needed ingredients are available, and recipes
are easy to follow. However, most people with busy schedules are not
afforded all four necessities.
We have examined varied systems in place for providing people recipes.
These resources include other people, cookbooks, cooking shows, online sources,
and digital cookbook systems. Of course, each of these has both positives and
negatives in relation to how easily one can successfully complete the task of
finding an appropriate recipe and cooking the meal.
Based on our interviews with potential users and task analysis, a better solution for users would
be focusing on shortening the time they have to spend on finding what they have,
what they want to cook, and what they need to have in order to make those. So
it saves their time, reduces the possible frustration they may get from cooking,
and, ultimately, enhances their overall cooking experience.
Our system addresses two issues: managing the food inventory and proposing
what to cook based on that inventory. It will generate recipes based on items
in one's refrigerator and pantry.
