Project Description

As our reliance on computer-based devices becomes stronger, we continually find ourselves at the intersection between the physical world and the virtual world. These two worlds have very different natures but they are very closely related with respect to how they define human interaction. In this project, our goal is to examine the relationship between the physical and virtual worlds by producing a series of snapshots of daily life that reflect the interplay between our lives in those two domains. Each snapshot will concentrate on some metaphorical activities from our virtual life with its origin from our physical life. In essence, we want to identify the accepted metaphors that have come to define our virtual interactions, and re-appropriate them back into the physical domain. We call this concept a re-appropriated metaphor. We hope this project will demonstrate to our audience the extent to which our daily lives are defined by these metaphors.
